Liverpool v Man Utd: Kuyt accused of ‘stabbing Stam in the back’by Paul Vegasa month agoSend to a friendShare the loveLiverpool hero Dirk Kuyt is being hammered inside Holland.Dutch pundit Johan Derksen has accused Kuyt of undermining Feyenoord coach Jaap Stam, the former Manchester United defender. Kuyt is the club’s U19 coach. Before going into Sunday’s clash with FC Twente, the heat was being turned up on Stam over Feyenoord’s flagging start to the season. Stam, after two years in charge of Reading, returned to Holland to take charge of PEC Zwolle before being named Feyenoord coach barely a year into the job. But with things going awry at the De Kuip, it’s been claimed Kuyt has been positioning himself to succeed Stam.Former Cambuur star Derksen said on Veronica Inside via Voetbalzone: “I assure you: Dirk Kuyt relentlessly stabs Jaap with a knife in his back so he can become head trainer.”Along with being youth coach, Kuyt also had input on signings at Feyenoord this summer. The former striker, now 39, had six years with Liverpool where he won the League Cup. Derksen continued: “Kuyt is thriving there on the terraces in that Feyenoord suit, and hoping that the camera will be pointed at him.”He has what every trainer suffers from: ‘I can get a lot more out of that group’.”They all make that mistake. Vanity wins him over. He has been acting strangely at Feyenoord for years, but there has never been anyone who has pulled the handbrake.”Feyenoord bounced back on Sunday with a thumping 5-1 win over Twente. The result sees Feyenoord jump up to sixth on the Eredivisie table.- updated September 30 TagsTransfersAbout the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your say

About the authorFreddie TaylorShare the loveHave your say Liverpool midfielder Wijnaldum reveals Euro16 heartbreakby Freddie Taylor10 days agoSend to a friendShare the loveLiverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has spoken about the pain of missing Euro 2016 with his country. The Dutch midfielder was not able to play at that tournament, or the 2018 World Cup, as his nation did not qualify. But it appears the Netherlands are ready to end their exile from the major international tournaments with Euro 2020.And Wijnaldum cannot wait to put that old pain to the side and compete on the biggest stage.”It was very painful to miss the last World Cup and European Championship before that,” said Wijnaldum to reporters. “When we were off on holiday in the past summers, it was going through my head the whole time that we should have been there.”That’s why this win is so nice [over Belarus in a Euro 2020 qualifer]. Of course, we are not completely sure of a place in the tournament but we have certainly taken a giant step.”
Leonard Fournette HurtUpdate 2: Fournette apparently took one to the groin during the tackle in question. Early in the fourth quarter, Fournette, after being gang-tackled by a number of Orange defenders, was slow to come off of the field. He’s since been shown wincing in pain on the sideline, though it’s unclear what’s ailing him.How many times did cameras show Fournette grimacing before announcers interrupted lovefest to point out he may be hurt?— Sagar Meghani (@smeghaniAP) September 26, 2015 We’ll keep you updated.

Algeria set up an Africa Cup of Nations semi-final against Nigeria with a 4-3 penalty shoot-out victory over Ivory Coast following a 1-1 draw in Suez.Sofiane Feghouli’s goal against the run of play opened the scoring in the 20th minute, Rais M’bolhi having made a superb early save to keep Ivory Coast at bay.But Baghdad Bounedjah’s penalty miss handed Ivory Coast a lifeline early in the second half, with Jonathan Kodjia’s fine effort restoring parity. Charter Communications (NASDAQ: CHTR) and The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) today announced a comprehensive distribution agreement to continue to deliver Disney’s robust lineup of premier sports, news and entertainment content to Spectrum customers. It expands upon the previous deal and supports the companies’ mutual goal to deliver the best video content to customers across multiple platforms. That is especially good news for many local Clemson fans, as Spectrum is one of the big carriers in Upstate South Carolina.According to The Greenville News, this leaves Dish Network as the only major provider in the area that hasn’t signed on with the ACC Network to this point. There are still some major gaps in coverage elsewhere in ACC territory, though. Comcast, CenturyLink, and Frontier are among the major providers yet to ink agreements for the network. Streaming platforms like Hulu Live and YouTube TV will carry ACCN, and provide a workaround for those unwilling to switch providers, but obvious the ACC and ESPN aim for more big cable providers to sign on in the coming days. The ACC Network will launch on August 22 at 7 p.m. COLLEGE PARK, MD – OCTOBER 15: Head coach Dabo Swinney of the Clemson Tigers walks with his players on the field during warm-ups before the start of their game against the Maryland Terrapins at Byrd Stadium on October 15, 2011 in College Park, Maryland. Longhorn NetworkThere will be zero love lost tonight, when No. 6 LSU and No. 9 Texas hit the field in Austin today. The two sides have been exchanging barbs all week, and it looks like that energy has spilled out onto the field during warm-ups.Longhorn Network happened to be interviewing former Longhorns basketball star Mo Bamba, when a bit of a skirmish broke out. LSU and Texas players had to be separated. The video appears to show LSU players running through a Texas warm-up drill, leading to some words being exchanged from both sides. LSU and Texas have been trading words over which program holds the rightful title of “DBU,” so naturally, defensive backs were prominently involved. It’s getting chippy, baby. Looked like the #LSU defensive backs ran right through Texas running a drill, and both sides had to be separated. The LSU DBs just were jumping up and down laughing. pic.twitter.com/szt5ETW9WV— Brody Miller (@BrodyAMiller) September 7, 2019They weren’t alone though. Among the LSU instigators, per Miller, is none other than K’Lavon Chaisson. If you’ve been following the lead-up to this game, you definitely recognize that name. The Houston native, who spurned the Longhorns for the Tigers as a blue-chip recruit, has not been shy about calling out UT this week.Early in the week, Chaisson took a shot at Sam Ehlinger’s abilities as a passer, something he lightly walked back later in the week.He followed that up by saying that he doesn’t believe Texas has a chance to win tonight’s game. That, to my knowledge, he has not walked back at all. This was already one of the most highly-anticipated games of the early part of the season, and a rare top 10 non-conference battle played on a school’s campus. The action in the press and, now, on the field ahead of the game certainly doesn’t mute any anticipation.LSU and Texas get going at 7:30 p.m. ET from Austin. The game is being broadcast on ABC.

Next Rajarshi Gupta ManchesterJune 27, 2019UPDATED: June 28, 2019 07:38 IST India registered its 5th win and inched closer to a semi-final spot in World Cup 2019. (AP Photo)HIGHLIGHTSIndia beat West Indies by 125 runs at Old Trafford on ThursdayShami and Bumrah were once again the pick of the bowlers for IndiaVirat Kohli top scored with 72 while MS Dhoni smashed an unbeaten 56Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami led another sterling bowling effort as India crushed West Indies by 125 runs at Old Trafford on Thursday to inch one step closer to the semi-finals of the 2019 Cricket World Cup.The massive Indian victory was also highlighted by Virat Kohli who top-scored with 72, MS Dhoni’s unbeaten 56 and useful contributions from KL Rahul (48) and Hardik Pandya (46).India now have 11 points while West Indies with 3 points from 7 matches are out of the semi-finals race.Mohammed Shami started the damage with 2 early wickets before Bumrah picked 2 wickets in 2 balls to send West Indies crashing out of the World Cup. Between those two bursts from India’s star pacers, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal did serious damage to ensure India remained the only unbeaten team in the World Cup so far.Chasing 269 on a tricky pitch, West Indies never found any momentum. Mohammed Shami removed Chris Gayle and Shai Hope inside the first 7 overs and the Windies never recovered from that early jolt. Sunil Ambris and Nicholas Pooran looked to put their team on the road to recovery but Hardik Pandya dismissed Ambris to trigger a typical West Indies collapse.Kuldeep Yadav next struck to snare Nicholas Pooran and at 80 for 4 in the 21st over on a pitch offering turn, all West Indies hopes had been dashed. In the 24th over, Yuzvendra Chahal removed Jason Holder and India knew they were on the verge of a huge win.But the dangerous Carlos Brathwaite was still in India’s way. Only a few days back, his barnstorming hundred had almost taken West Indies across the line against New Zealand in a high-scoring thriller. Against the best bowling attack in the world, there would be no Brathwaite magic.advertisementBack for his second spell, Bumrah removed Brathwaite and Fabian Allen off consecutive deliveries before Shami struck again to see off Shimron Hetmyer as India marched towards a comfortable victory.Earlier after winning the toss, Virat Kohli decided India would bat.Rohit Sharma was controversially ruled out by the third umpire Michael Gough who certainly did not rule the popularity charts among Indian fans on social media. But KL Rahul (48) and Virat Kohli (72) kept pressing forward against a disciplined West Indies bowling attack.KL Rahul fell to another poor shot, Kedar Jadhav and Vijay Shankar failed but Kohli was a class apart. He timed the ball better than anyone else and was the real threat as West Indies looked to keep India under 300.MS Dhoni struggled to get going once again and with Hardik Pandya, he could not even rotate the strike well. Pandya did try to up the ante but Dhoni was unable to get going at the other end.The Dhoni-Pandya partnership was slow but the pair made sure India had the services of two big-hitting batsmen for the death overs. Pandya eventually perished for 46 but Dhoni set himself up to hit 2 sixes and 1 four in the final over of Oshane Thomas. He brought up his 72nd fifty in ODIs as India finished with a competitive total.India next take on hosts England on June 30.Also Read | Virat Kohli breaks Tendulkar and Lara record, fastest to 20,000 international runsAlso Read | India vs West Indies, World Cup 2019: Rohit Sharma’s dismissal sparks off controversyAlso Read | Virat Kohli 1st Indian captain to score four successive fifties in World CupsAlso See:For sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to indiatoday.in/sports. India Today Web Desk New DelhiJuly 27, 2019UPDATED: July 27, 2019 16:38 IST Former India all-rounder Robin Singh has applied for India head coach job. (Getty Images)HIGHLIGHTSRobin Singh has had a 15-year-long successful coaching careerRobin believes that a change in coach would be good for the Indian teamRobin will face competition from the likes of Tom Moody, Mahela Jayawardene and Mike Hesson, who are also likely to applyFormer India all-rounder Robin Singh has thrown his hat in the ring for the coach of Indian men’s cricket team. Robin has coached various teams in the last 15 years and brings with him a wealth of experience in the department.Robin Singh was India’s fielding coach from during 2007-09, while also helming the affairs with the India Under-19 and ‘A’ teams and has also had a successful stint as an assistant coach with Indian Premier League champions Mumbai Indians.Robin spoke to The Hindu soon after his application and said that the current Indian team needs change as under Ravi Shastri, they have lost in multiple ICC tournament knockout games. Robin feels that it is the right time to start preparing for the next World Cup and his experience could come in handy.”Under the current coach, India has lost in the semifinals of two successive ODI World Cups, and in the last four stage of the World Twenty20 championship as well. Now is the time to prepare for the 2023 World Cup and a change could be good for the side.”Robin also dwelled further on what a coach’s role should be during the game giving examples of what he would have done during India’s semi-final defeat against New Zealand in the World Cup 2019.”You got to transport yourself mentally into the game, put yourself in situations that the team and the players face, be a part of the moves, get into the players’ mind. You can do this, only if you understand the game technically.advertisement”With the ball moving around and India losing Rohit Sharma early, I would have held back Virat Kohli to the No. 4 slot. For that game, I would have picked another top-order batsman, Mayank Agarwal, at No. 3. M.S. Dhoni would have been No. 5 and he would have got more time. Kohli and Dhoni could have batted together. Then, we could have had the three power hitters, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja coming in.”Tom Moody, Mahela Jayawardene and Mike Hesson are the other notable candidates who are expected to apply though nothing has been confirmed yet regarding their application. Also Read | Ravi Shastri has done well as head coach, says CAC member Anshuman GaekwadAlso Read | Mohammed Shami’s US visa rejected initially, BCCI comes to his rescueAlso SeeFor sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to indiatoday.in/sports. Editors’ Recommendations If you’re thinking your casual footwear could use some work, it’s hard to go wrong with a pair of Air Jordan 1s. A classic design in understated colorways, the AJ1 has shaped sneaker and sports culture since its initial debut in 1985. The Lance Mountain Nike SB x Jordan 1 collaboration throws a new twist on an old idea, while still appealing to fans of the original. When the NBA fined Michael Jordan for playing in his black and red Air Jordan 1s his rookie year, Nike paid the fine and urged him to continue wearing the shoes. They wore them into the ground, putting tremendous strain on them, and decorated them with paint and markers to imbue them with the DIY culture of skateboarding.Nike tapped legendary skate icons Craig Stecyk and Lance Mountain to finally bring the Nike SB and Air Jordan brands officially together. Stecyk’s art and photography catapulted Mountain and other skateboarding pioneers into the spotlight as they continued to revolutionize the sport they helped define. As a nod to the days of beat-up, mismatched Air Jordans, the Lance Mountain Nike SB X Jordan 1 comes with two different shoes. Both embellish the classic black base that originally made the shoes so rebellious when they first appeared on the scene, one featuring hints of red, while a royal-blue sole and Nike’s iconic swoosh accent the other.
